There is also an option to use PayPal to open a new Shared, DreamPress, or email-only account. After the initial payment is received and the account is approved, subsequent payments can be made using any of the accepted payment methods. These include Credit/Debit Card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and Diners Club), Electronic Check / ACH, PayPal, and Check or Money Order. However, physical payments are not recommended due to security reasons and other issues that can arise when sending and processing physical payments. Checks or money orders must be drawn on U.S. banks and denominated in US Dollars. For items that require an upfront payment (such as a new domain registration or renewal), the payment must be made via a credit card only. This is because the payment processes immediately and the request is then automatically sent to the registry. Pre-payment with PayPal or an Electronic Check / ACH is also possible, but there is a one-week hold on the amount before it can be used to pay for the domain registration or any other items that require an upfront payment. DreamHost has a 97-day money-back guarantee that applies only to Shared Hosting services. Refunds are issued after an account is closed, the credit is confirmed to be refundable, and the last payment method is confirmed to be active. The refund process can take up to 30 days to complete, depending on the type of payment method. For example, credit card refunds typically take 5–7 business days to reflect back to the customer's credit card account. If the refund is processed via a manual check, it may take up to 30 days for the check to be mailed out. Any other credit will remain on the account after closure. Refundable account credits are generally only issued under DreamHost's 97-day guarantee or within 30 days of purchasing or renewing a yearly service plan. If a customer changes their billing plan from Yearly to Monthly, an account credit will be provided for the remaining unused balance. If a customer paid for a 2-year or 3-year plan and wants a refund within the 97-day guarantee period, DreamHost will provide a full refund on paid hosting fees. After the 97 days have elapsed, hosting fees are no longer refundable. A refund is automatically processed back to the original credit card that was used towards the fees, only after the customer closes their account in their panel.
